2020 Season Updates

It’s been an interesting couple of months across the country, and all of us at the Barn Theatre hope you’re staying safe and healthy. Like much of the world, we’re adapting to social changes and paying close attention to the directives from the CDC and WHO. With the uncertainties we’re facing, planning is a daunting task for all; however, we’ve weather many storms over the last seven decades and know that the show must go on!

We WILL be bringing a 74th season to you, with our fantastically talented Company of Barnies. But as many of you know, our Coupon Booklet sales are vital to the success of our season and this year’s Coupon Booklet sales will be even more so than usual. Your beloved Barnies need your support now more than ever.

With the ban on public gatherings right now, we’re trying our best to find every possible way to bring you the entertainment you’ve enjoyed for years right here in West Michigan. That being said, we will be implementing a Special Event Stream this year. With the purchase of Coupon Booklets, you’ll receive an email link and be able to “attend” the show in the privacy and safety of your own home. When the public gathering ban is lifted, we will continue business as usual.

Coupon Booklet purchases not only give you access to the Special Event Stream, but to shows all year long, including summer, fall, and Christmas Cabaret. If, by the end of the year, we’re not able to present you a full season, you may choose to be refunded for your extra coupons, or you may donate the amount of your unused coupons for a tax deductible donation, helping ensure the success of our future seasons.

To start our season, we’ll be presenting two original shows via our Special Event Stream! Opening the season is IN HOT WATER, a farce written by the Barn’s own Patrick Hunter. A side-splitting comedy written with all of your Barn favorites in mind. The second will be THE WHISTLE PIG’S REVENGE, written by Brendan Ragotzy, a Ghost Adventures romp turned on its ear. You won’t want to miss these premieres! Dates will be confirmed soon, so keep an eye out. There will be a two-week window in which you can “attend” these shows virtually.

As of now, our Annual Gala will be June 27. July 7 – 19 will be our first big musical of the season, Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 THE MUSICAL. The July 21 – August 2 show is TBA, followed by ELVIS THE MUSICAL from August 4 – 16. To wrap up the summer, we’ll bring you REEFER MADNESS, August 18 – 30.

No matter what the next few months bring, we are dedicated to providing you with the entertainment you’ve grown to love and expect from the Barn Theatre. We cannot thank you enough for your support, not only over the course of the last 74 seasons, but even more so in these trying times. The Barn Theatre simply cannot exist without you, and we hope we bring as much joy to you as you all bring to us.
