Andrea Arvanigian

First Year Apprentice

Andrea is thrilled to be making her Barn Theatre debut!  Originally from Portage, MI, Andrea has a BFA in Music Theatre Performance from Western Michigan University. Kalamazoo theatre credits include And the World Goes Round (Woman 3) at Farmers Alley Theatre, West Side Story (Maria) at WMU, as well as several other university and community theatre credits. A former resident of Los Angeles, L.A. theatre credits include Songs for a New World (Woman 1), Nine (Stephanie Necrophorus), The Last 5 Years (Cathy), Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Christine), 9 to 5 (Judy), and Orbiting Astral Bodies (Claire *West Coast premiere).  While in Los Angeles, she also graduated from The Upright Citizens Brigade’s improvisation program.  She has performed internationally with productions of Honk! the Musical, The Secret Garden, and Seven Passages: The Stories of Gay Christians.  Commercially, she’s worked for AT&T, Apple, Chanel and Chevy. Sam Balzac

First Year Apprentice

Sam is so excited to spend his summer at the Barn! Professional credits include Chip in 20THANNUAL…SPELLING BEE, Sancho in MAN OF LA MANCHA, Dr. Sanderson in HARVEY, and Charlie in TINTYPES. Sam is a rising senior at Columbia University where he has appeared in numerous department and student theatre productions, most recently as Che in EVITA and Richard in Harold Pinter’s THE LOVER. An avid composer, Sam has collaborated on four original musicals including Columbia University’s 121st Annual Varsity Show, whose alumni include Jeanine Tesori (Fun Home), Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey (Next to Normal), and Rodgers and Hammerstein. Thanks to Penelope and Brendan for this amazing opportunity, and a big thank you to Mom and Dad for their support and help in pursuing this crazy career!


Sarah Leigh Beason

First Year Apprentice

Sarah is a graduate of Bethel College with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance. She is excited to be working in her home state this summer. Favorite past roles include Lily St. Regis in ANNIE at the Kalamazoo Civic, Lucky in WAITING FOR GODOT, Fanny in ON THE VERGE, and The Female Lead in THE 39 STEPS. “Thanks to my ever supportive family and friends and to God for his grace. Jackie Blasting

First Year Apprentice

Jackie is ecstatic to be spending her summer with The Barn Theatre! A native of Syracuse, NY, she is a graduate from The State University of New York at Fredonia with a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre. Favorite credits include Nellie in SOUTH PACIFIC: IN CONCERT, Lana Sherwood in IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE: THE RADIO PLAY, Juror #8 in 12 ANGRY JURORS, and Paulette in LEGALLY BLONDE. She would like to thank The Barn for this opportunity, her family, friends and Shaughn for their constant love and support. Enjoy the season!


Brandon Brush

First Year Apprentice

Brandon Brush is entering his senior year at Southern Connecticut State University where he is studying theatre and video production. Previous shows include RENT (Mark Cohen), AN ABSOLUTE TURKEY (RĂ©dillon), GODSPELL (Jesus), THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE (Chip Tolentino), URINETOWN (Bobby Strong), and OUR TOWN (George Gibbs). He would like to thank his family and friends for being extremely supportive, and Larry Nye (former Barnie!) and the entire Theatre Department at SCSU for all their work and encouragement.


Maria Bufalini

First Year Apprentice

Maria is thrilled to be joining the apprentice company at the Barn Theater this summer! Originally from Watertown, New York, Maria is a rising senior in the BFA Musical Theater track at Syracuse University. Past credits include Percy (THE SPITFIRE GRILL) with SU Drama; u/s Christmas Eve, u/s Lucy, u/s Gary Coleman, u/s Bad Idea Bear, Ens. (AVENUE Q) with SU Drama; and u/s Tiger Lily, Tiger Lily Tribe Member (Peter Pan) with Syracuse Stage. She was also seen as Jemima (CATS), Brenda (HAIRSPRAY), and Purity (ANYTHING GOES) with Potsdam Music Theater. She looks forward to being in the SU Drama production of Nine in the the fall as well as Syracuse Stage's Production of Mary Poppins. She would like to thank her family and friends for their endless love and support.


Jonnie Carpathios

First Year Apprentice

Jonnie could not be happier to join the Barn’s Apprenticeship program! Jonnie is a top level senior at Shawnee State University and will graduate with a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre in 2017. He has been in over a dozen productions at SSU, his favorites include: Ché in EVITA, Max in LEND ME A TENOR, Dr. Parker in BAT BOY, Andrew in BEYOND THE HORIZON, Thalia in XANADU, and Bernard in BOEING BOEING. Jonnie has also performed in many classical choral works including Mozart’s Grand Mass, and Duruflé Requiem. He has also worked professionally on camera with Backpack Productions. Jonnie would like to thank his friends and family for their love and support, and the Barn for this thrilling opportunity!


Andy Donnelly

First Year Apprentice

Andy is a sophomore BFA Musical Theatre Student at Kent State University, and is thrilled to be performing at the Barn! At Kent State, he has been seen in Hand to God (Jason/Tyrone), Thoroughly Modern Millie (Ensemble), Side Show (Shiek), Bonnie and Clyde (Young Clyde), and Babes in Arms (Beauregard). He has also recently been featured as a performer in Live Shows at Coney Island amusement park. He would like to thank his family and friends for their constant love and support.


Lauren Landman

First Year Apprentice

Lauren is thrilled to join the Barn Family for their 70th season! Favorite credits include Daphna in BAD JEWS, Marian Paroo in THE MUSIC MAN, Sandy in GREASE, Chris Hargensen in CARRIE: THE MUSICAL, Hodel in FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, Juliet in GOODNIGHT DESDEMONA, GOOD MORNING JULIET, and Little Sally in URINETOWN. Lauren is currently pursuing a double major in Theatre Arts and Psychology from Kalamazoo College, and has previously trained at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival and Interlochen Center for the Arts. She would like to thank Brendan and Penelope Ragotzy for this incredible opportunity, as well as her family and friends for their everlasting love and support!


Sam Massey

First Year Apprentice

Sam is a first year apprentice at the Barn and he could not me more excited for the ride! Sam is going into his senior year studying musical theatre at Kansas State University. He would like to thank his family, friends, and everyone at the Barn for their support and encouragement.


Jordana McMahon

First Year Apprentice

Jordana is so excited to be making her Barn Theatre debut after recently graduating with a BFA in Musical Theatre from Western Carolina University. Previous credits include: KISS ME KATE (Barrington Stage Company), ROMANCE IN HARD TIMES (Barrington Stage Company), BRIGADOON (Haywood Arts Regional Theatre), AVENUE Q (Haywood Arts Regional Theatre), and GYPSY (Western Carolina University). She would like to thank her parents and grandparents for their love and support.


Quinn Moran

First Year Apprentice

Quinn Moran is going to be a Sophomore B.F.A. Musical Theatre student at Texas Christian University this fall. In his time at T.C.U., he has appeared as Bandleader/Ens. in THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS, Usher in A DAY IN HOLLYWOOD/A NIGHT IN THE UKRAINE, and Stage Manager in a reading of Thornton Wilder’s THE HAPPY JOURNEY TO TRENTON AND CAMDEN. Some of his favorite roles outside of TCU have been Lt. Joseph Cable in SOUTH PACIFIC, and Tybalt in ROMEO AND JULIET, both for the Troy Theatre Ensemble. Quinn also made his film debut this past year as Peter in SHELVED, a TCU SFA production. Upon graduation, Quinn plans to pursue a career in theatre and film.


Gretchen Priddy

First Year Apprentice

Gretchen is ecstatic to be spending the summer at the Barn Theatre. When she returns to Northern Kentucky University, she will be finishing her B.F.A. in Musical Theatre and her minor in Marketing. Favorite credits include: Woodstock in A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS, Nelly Fail in FAILURE: A LOVE STORY, Sarah Elizabeth in LINCOLN: A PIONEER TALE, and Elaine in ARSENIC AND OLD LACE. She would like to thank Corrie Danieley, Andrew Wiemann, and her family for their constant support and love of the arts. She can’t wait to see what this summer has in store!


Matt Ruehlman

First Year Apprentice

Matt Ruehlman is beyond grateful to be a part of the Barn Theatre's apprentice company this summer! He will be entering his senior year at Northwestern University where he will soon graduate with a BS in Theatre. Favorite roles include "Moritz" in SPRING AWAKENING, "Sir Andrew" in TWELFTH NIGHT, Lysander in A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, and "The Proprietor" in ASSASSINS. Outside of performing, Matt is an aspiring director and composer, who has directed and seen several of his compositions showcased at Northwestern and beyond. Love to Mom, Dad, Rebecca, and every teacher/mentor who has helped him get this far.


Stacey Schiller

First Year Apprentice

Stacey hails from Cincinnati, Ohio and holds a B.A. in Theatre Arts with a minor in Voice Performance from Anderson University. She has been seen on the Anderson University stage as Hedy LaRue in HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING, Shelby in STEEL MAGNOLIAS, Catherine Donohue in THESE SHINING LIVES, Lucy in the world premiere of BOTHER, and Papagena in THE MAGIC FLUTE. Other AU productions include A GRAND NIGHT FOR SINGING, LITTLE WOMEN, and THE GONDOLIERS. Assistant director credits include: REGINA at Anderson University and MY WAY: A MUSICAL TRIBUTE TO FRANK SINATRA the Clinton Area Showboat Theatre. In this past year, Stacey worked in New York City as the research assistant for a new musical and continued to assistant direct the production during beginning stages of the workshop process. She is very enthusiastic about working at the Barn this summer!


Bronte Upshaw

First Year Apprentice

Bronte is elated to be spending her summer at the Barn! Bronte is a current student at the Boston Conservatory, pursuing a B.F.A. in musical theatre. Favorite credits include Sheila in HAIR, Girl in BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON, and Jo in LITTLE WOMEN. She sends eternal love and thanks to her amazing friends and family and the apprentice program!


Dale White

First Year Apprentice

Dale is a first year Barnie, and has trained at Adrian College in the art of Musical Theatre and the science of Sociology (Holding a Bachelor's degree in Both). He is excited to put his training to the test this summer with the wonderful season ahead. Some of Dale’s notable roles include Fabrizio in LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA, Collins in RENT, and Will in BIG FISH. In his free time, Dale enjoys hitting the big green of a soccer field, or the little greens of a golf course. After the intensive summer at the Barn Theatre Dale plans to work with Meadow Brook Theatre as an acting apprentice. He would like to thank his Family and Friends for all the support that they have given him through the years and hopes that everyone enjoys the art that the Barn is sharing with them.


Nicholas R. Whittaker

First Year Apprentice

Nicholas is overjoyed to be joining the Barn Theatre as an apprentice for the 2016 season! Nicholas is currently a junior at Eastern Michigan University working toward his B.A. in Theatre Arts, with a concentration in Musical Theatre. Some favorite roles of his include Jesus in JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, Frank n’ Furter in THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, Leaf Coneybear in 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE, and Seymour in LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS. Nicholas would also be remiss to not mention his favorite role of all: being a (figurative) father to 4 cats and 4 birds. He would like to extend much thanks to his friends and family for being supportive whilst he fervently pursues his dreams, his teachers and mentors for their wisdom and guidance, and of course, Penelope and Brendan Ragotzy for the life-changing opportunity.
